Bench Tops |
| Laminate: There is a large variety of colours, patterns and texture available today. Tops should be constructed of 33mm composite board preferably moisture resistant and covered with either .8mm 0r 1.2mm laminate. Timber: Solid timber is available for benchtops, this type of top is usually finished in either polyurethane or is oil rubbed. These available in butcher block, laminated for plank construction. Tiles: Ceramic tiles can be used if you wish, they are durable and can be attractive. They must be laid level and correctly. A timber edge is the usual finish. The colours are endless and are excellent for "hot-spots" on the bench e.g. next to stoves. Stainless Steel: This type of material is usually in a satin finish, but can be highly polished. Stainless Steel is very durable and easily kept clean and is usually used in wet areas. Splashbacks can also be made of this material and molded so there are no visible joins. Stainless Steel can have a clinical look to it. Solid Surfaces: Granite, Marble solid surfaces are durable but compared to laminate,is expensive, although their life span is significantly longer and you would have to choose which you require. Be aware that the construction method used in your cabinets must be capable of taking the extra weight associated with this product. Marble is porous, granite is non-porous. The colour of granite varies from slab to slab and it is recommended that you go to the supplier and choose your own slab so that you are aware of the colour. Acrylic Solid Surfaces: The colour of this product is constant throughout and is very durable and non-porous, waterproof, impact resistant and is seamless fitted.
